RTÉ presents a week-long series of programmes which capture where we've come from over the last 18 months, take stock of where we are now and try to identify ways in which we as a nation can get Ireland from crisis to recovery

Yesterday evening I arrived home to a pot of stew that my mam made - yes, I still live at home (reasons are obvious). It reminded me of not the 'good old times' just the 'normal' times. After the usual 'hard on the head' Monday in the shop I promised myself that I would go for a run but found myself zapped of energy. Thats when I flicked on the TV to watch one of the best pieces of Television this year or any other for that matter.
RTÉ Television's Director of Programmes, Steve Carson, said:
"RTÉ's Aftershock season is a chance to take stock of a society battered by eighteen months of economic turmoil - and also to kick-start a debate on how we might secure the future. Programme-makers across Ireland have delivered a wide variety of dedicated programming to Aftershock, evidence of the range and reach that RTÉ can bring as the national public service broadcaster."
I am well educated and well versed in todays Business world. Whats more, I am Irish and a patriot at that. I am overwhelmed at where we find ourselves as a country and how the greed and conduct of a few have affected 'the rest'. Like many others I fight to keep my business or family above the breadline. It's a daily battle with Landlords, Revenue, suppliers, accountants and even solicitors.
I was always brought up to fight for what you believe in. Like many of my friends, I may be packing my bags to emmigrate because there is simply nothing left here for my generation only prolonged unemployment. Watching the series last night did little to convince me otherwise. It raised questions and answers but did little to suggest implementation.
One of thew quotes that stuck in my mind is 'where is tha NAMA for the little people ?'
On the way into work this morning I finished my book 'REWORK' written by the founders of 37signals. I posted about it a few weeks back and decided to buy it. It is an excellent and simplistic read. Im thinking about keeping it in my Bag for the rest of the year in fact. The chapters read like business parables. It stirs you to act, not to think too hard, just simply act.
"If you want something, you've got to do it now. You can't put it on a shelf and wait two months. Inspiration is like fresh fruit or milk. It has an expiration date"
This blog has alot of readers, many whom I know and who know me. The world is what you make of it. Ireland will be what 'we' make of it. Please support the 'next generation' and definetly watch this series
